Yet, even with such a diverse melting pot of tracks, one constant remains: Sonia’s evocative, nuanced vocals, wrapping listeners into ethereal, meaningful and relatable lyricism. The Atlanta-based creative writes about life as we know it: the struggles, the joy, and the unwavering hope.
Featuring eleven pieces, ‘From Space’ opens with the Latin-flavoured gem ‘How High’, showcasing Add On Sonia’s sultry, luscious character. ‘Ghosts’ takes it back to Western themes, developing a catchy and melodious ballad that’s frankly just wonderful. ‘Abandon City’ follows suit, incorporating a pinch of folk and Americana flair. No more spoilers though: ‘From Space’ deserves to be listened to in its entirety – in fact, one could even treat it as a series of singles, whatever gets you to listen to it, really.
Speaking about the creative process behind the record, Add on Sonia’ explains: “As my debut album, ‘From Space’ embodies the songs which I feel tell the story of the everyday person. The feel of the album is a mix of genres and tempos from start to finish, providing the listener with a collection of my greatest hits, that is until my next album is released.”
