Adam + Attack by Fire Pays Homage to Gone Era in New Single

Adam + Attack by Fire knows exactly how treacherous the waters he is treading in are. In fact, he’s navigating them willingly. ‘All Good Hair Bands’ is defined as ‘bombastic’ by the American artist himself, here seeking to pay homage to the 80s’ playful, colourful and over-the-top aesthetic, especially in music. Packing a wealth of dazzling synths and simple melodies in two minutes of pure, shiny creative bliss, Adam + Attack by Fire crafts a piece that’s almost provocative, a nostalgic, witty exercise in rehashing the past.

Curiously, ‘All Good Hair Bands’ also features a dark side, manifesting in the song’s melancholic, history-ridden lyricism. Evoking the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the Apex-based musician references what would have been a bleak reality at the time, a transitional period full of challenges and hope. Furthermore, the inclusion of such an event ties together nicely with Germany’s advances in electronic music at the time (for example Kraftwerk, which have actually quite a lot in common with ‘All Good Hair Bands’).

Known by day as Adam Tarsitano, the talented creative explains: “There is something very special about having the freedom to experiment with different genres and sounds, and also to mix and match all of those elements to create something new. ‘All Good Hair Bands’ is a bit of a departure from most of my previous work in terms of overall sound, but its spirit of adventure fits directly into my catalogue.”
