Abrasive Trees Unveil Stunning Short Film ‘Mill Session’

It’s very easy to get lost in Abrasive Trees’ musical output. We did; we were supposed to write about it, but somehow we just spaced out, starting an introspective journey packed with memories, regrets, and broken hope. Isn’t that what art is about? The ability to make us feel something, to get in touch with our deepest conscience. The English group did exactly that, and we are grateful. Channelling their shoegaze, post-punk stylings, Abrasive Trees create a sonic picture that’s spacious and fuzzy, but also punchy and intense.

‘Mill Session’ is the group’s latest effort. Not a record, but a multi-disciplinary work, a short film highlighting new songs, interview-style footage and aesthetic visuals. It all creates a sense of belonging to something greater; familiarising the listeners with the band, ‘Mill Session’ showcases Abrasive Trees’ more intimate side, giving their artistry a wider breadth.

It’s been a while since we enjoyed such a nuanced live session – perhaps since a certain ‘From The Basement’ conquered our hearts, courtesy of fellow British band Radiohead. ‘Mill Session’ features the same rustic and hazy visual settings, the perfect companion for Abrasive Trees’ colourful and cathartic music. In it, we discover two unreleased tracks, ‘Star Sapphire’ and ‘Tao To Earth’.
