I believe we all need moments to pause, step back, and reflect. In today’s world, it’s so easy to get lost in the rush and become distracted from the meaningful. With this in mind, I’d like to introduce you to ‘The Light’, the second studio album from Berkshire-based chillout collective A Better Life.
A follow-up to their debut record ‘Take A Deep Breath’, ‘The Light’ is an utterly dreamy and entrancing eight-track offering. Recorded and produced over two years, the collective’s frontman Phil Daniels says the album “is an evocative exploration of the journey through a single day, capturing the essence of time as it unfolds from the first light of dawn to the serene embrace of nightfall”. So, nothing too expansive then you say?
Featuring the incredibly gifted vocalists Holly Taymar and Pete Rawcliffe, ‘The Light’ is something of a sonic companion for moments of stillness and introspection. A serene escape from the hustle and bustle, it’s a reminder to savour the present moments before dusk settles.
Now, I know what you’re saying…”Jeremy! Why haven’t you told us about any of the tunes?” And to that, I say…each song is part of a carefully crafted experience that’s best enjoyed as a whole. What an exceptionally good and inventive record!
