Hailing from Albany and the Great Southern region of Western Australia, hard-rock and metal outfit Ivory Dusk are what you’d call legends in the making. Debuting only last year, the Aussie band has showcased a mature and witty character, managing to deliver high-grade recordings from the get-go.
Now, the band returns with their debut EP, ‘Tempered’, featuring four dynamic tracks which explore the group’s musical prowess and poignant lyricism. There’s a certain gentle flair in the record: while heavy distortion is a mainstay in their sound, Ivory Dusk build a friendly and approachable sonic imprint, making their music accessible to a wider audience.
Introduced by ‘Fold You’, the EP sets the tone for what’s to come: metal and alt-rock stylings, while maintaining a clear melodic outlook. ‘Whisper’ follows with anthemic character and haunting tones, before jumping into punchier and steadier territories with ‘In Thrall’. ‘Chase Me’ brings the record to a close, a standout track that showcases the band’s ability to layer heavy riffs with emotional songwriting.
