Queen Daxene Shares Latest Album ‘Barnstormer’

While flicking through ‘Barnstormer’, we can’t help but appreciate the lyrical prowess the project seems to enjoy. You see, songwriting is a rather dark and difficult art, in the sense that’s not easy to master. It often makes the difference between a good and a bad record. In the case of Queen Daxene, songwriting is excellent, relatable, and friendly, yet not too obvious. Not a surprise, given that the project is the solo endeavour of Alex Denny, talented London-based creative with a knack for indie, rock and pop lyricism.

Self-produced in Denny’s bedroom studio, ‘Barnstormer’ features thirteen tracks, all encompassing the highs and lows of modern life, with all its quirks and nuances. Sometimes fierce, other times nostalgic, perhaps painful: the album configures itself as a deep dive into human consciousness, drawing inspiration from Denny’s own day-to-day dealing.

Notably, the British musician has spent a slice of his career under a publishing contract with Warner Chappell, a sign that there’s strong professionalism in his work. The eclecticism in ‘Barnstormer’ really catches our attention, confidently running from pop ballads to fast-paced rock euphoria – there’s something for everyone in it.
