Please give a big welcome to TECHNOIR, a Milan-based alternative R&B and electro duo made up of Alexandros Finizio and Jennifer Villa. When Billboard Italia labels you as “Italy’s TV On The Radio” and Rolling Stone says that your music “rightly fits in the post-black wave guided by Flying Lotus”, I think it’s fair to say you’re onto something quite sonically special. The duo’s brand new release is a tune called ‘Saturate’, and it’s a deeply moody and dark piece with intense and impactful beats, soulful guitars, and the mesmerizing vocals of both artists. Wonderfully textured, rich, and emotional, it’s a track that is just far too intriguing and absorbing to ignore.
Lyrically, ‘Saturate’ deals with loss, distance, and the ever-present dichotomy of emotions that comes with being human. So, nothing too heavy then. All joking aside, it’s truly one of the most moving and poignant songs I’ve heard in quite some time.
The tune will form part of TECHNOIR’s upcoming album ‘AFTER MATH’, and they plan to unleash a new single every month until the full album gets released in autumn. It’s a record that I’m seriously excited to hear and, if ‘Saturate’ is anything to go by, I think we could be in for a real treat!
