Kid Jupiter Returns with Kaleidoscopic Gem ‘bluepink’

The road to artistic glory is often paved with challenges and creative chaos; after all, is this not what art is about? Personal expression is not an easy challenge. Kid Jupiter knows it very well, having navigated a three years hiatus that sees them return this week with ‘bluepink’, a hypnotising offering that signals a period of newly-found fertility for the London outfit. Balanced between indie and psych tones, the track borrows some of the band’s previous strengths, while adding a cooler, fresher edge. In practice, ‘bluepink’ exhibits a more dynamic layer to Kid Jupiter’s signature mellow and gentle indie sound.

We certainly appreciate it – having been championed by the likes of Tom Robinson (BBC Introducing), it is clear the British group has always had a lot to say, especially given their kaleidoscopic identity and ethos, often exploring crucial themes such as gender identity, toxic masculinity and living with anxiety. Their discography has always been quite self-reliant and empowering, sharing a fierce message of growth and balance.

Emerging from North London, Kid Jupiter also shares a certain flair for retro elements, packing their sound with references to more organic instrumentation, echoing the likes of The Byrds and The Alan Parsons Project, among others.
