We have the perfect match for it. ‘Somebody’ is everything we could ever wish for: a luscious, flawless electro-pop production perfectly embracing a slightly retro and nostalgic flair. This electrifying atmosphere is certainly one of KØASH’s greatest achievements so far, although we were absolutely confident in the Welsh artist’s potential.
Crowning what’s a relatively short career, ‘Somebody’ is the project’s third single, and first this year. ‘Dominoes’ and ‘Breathe’ already gave us a glimpse of what’s on offer – it turns out, KØASH is not messing about: his songwriting is nothing short of extraordinary. ‘Somebody’ is the strongest evidence of that: a catchy, relatable and melodious topline, drenched in friendly and popular lyricism. Overall, there’s a strong fierce attitude in the song, a passionate acknowledgement of the fleeting status of modern dating.
Sonically, the record could be likened to something straight out of the 80s, although the references are oriented towards modern synthwave and retrowave, with a strong commercial flair. An absolute banger, which we are confident will work wonders in gaining loyal listeners to KØASh’s kaleidoscopic artistry.
