WOL is the musical project of London-based singer/songwriter and musician Will Dunn. He’s just put out a beautiful four-track live EP that was initially recorded during the lockdown in 2021, and it’s a stunningly rich and captivating offering. It starts off with a live version of WOL’s previous single ‘Friend That Never Was’, and contains a dreamy and entrancing intro. Dunn’s full-bodied vocals make their graceful introduction, as the tune smoothly floats over you and sucks you into WOL’s warm and comforting world.
The second song on the EP is ‘Malcontent’, and it’s another atmospheric and lush piece. I’m honestly blown away by Will’s vocals – velvety, refined, and deeply alluring. ‘Malcontent’ is the shortest tune on ‘LIVE2021’, but it more than leaves a lasting impression once it’s over.
‘Fang Residue’ and a cover of Portishead’s ‘The Rip’ round off the EP, and both are exquisite and enthralling in their own way. There’s a tender and reassuring element in the soundscape that WOL has created that I have greatly fallen in love with. He’s also decided to release accompanying videos for each track, and we’ve dropped one below that we think you’ll love! Here’s to many more in the future WOL!
