If what your looking for is fierce, unapologetic and empowering electronic pop, Melotika might be the musical discovery you were waiting for. Having been already active pre-pandemic, the project has a long history of stunning pop records, showcasing not only Melotika’s evocative, dynamic and powerful vocals, but also her songwriting prowess, able to build intricate and catchy melodies while remaining relatable and friendly, on a lyrical level. That’s a pretty impressive picture already: is she the next big pop star? We don’t know that yet, but what we do know, is that she certainly has all the right cards for it.
Following up on last year’s album ‘#RebelSaga’, Melotika is now gearing up for another long-length collection, ‘Ultra Butterfly’, set for release later in the year. ‘Pressure’ is the single that anticipates it, a charmingly electrifying banger also benefitting from the collaboration with Krosst Out. In it, the listener is introduced to Melotika’s sleazy and luscious sonic universe, made up of nostalgic early 2000’ charts references, together with a more modern melodic outlook.
An absolute masterpiece by Melotika, who seems to get better and better with every release. The middle break, containing Krosst Out’s rap part, is pretty curious, so minimal and engaging. Lyrically, the song seeks to empower listeners in being true to themselves.
