Justin Sconza Shares Latest Album ‘Parlor’

There’s a certain aura of veiled simplicity around Justin Sconza’s latest work, ‘Parlor’. Not that it would be easy to write such stunning songs, but the way he approaches the aesthetic around the project’s sonic universe, makes it easy for the listener to relate and indulge in a long listening session. Emerging from Chicago, Scorza is what we’d call an enlightened creative, borrowing from a plethora of influences in order to build a highly personal and authentic style, so well reflected in his ever-growing streaming figures.

In ‘Parlor’, one can expect to discover a rather psych and retro-rock approach, here at the service of Justin’s kaleidoscopic storytelling, drenched in personal experience and stemming from the observation of human behaviours. In fact, the album’s story follows an individual’s journey from an ordinary house to a surreal living room through the use of a map, taking the listener into pure escapism territories.

A gifted musician, singer and songwriter, Justin Sconza played all the instruments on the record, using an 8-track tape recorder and a wide choice of instrumentation, including a Mellotron and pedal steel. ‘Upside Down World’ – the album’s opener, is certainly one of the highlights of the record, a soothing and gentle gem welcoming us all into Sconza’s artistic cosmos.
