We previously wrote about Carson Aday: “His vocal performance is one of the best I’ve heard all year – there’s just something ineffable in his voice that I simply cannot escape!”. We meant it: the Texan talent seems to have a particularly relevant gift, mirrored mostly in the welcoming quality of his vocals, so warm and embracing, yet soothing and controlled. His guitar prowess is perfectly fitting that very same aesthetic, providing much-needed support for Aday’s impactful songwriting. What’s more, he doesn’t dwell in virtuoso-style playing, instead focusing on building a sonic skeleton for his bright and poignant lyricism to shine through.
‘Molly’ is Carson’s latest single, quite a step up from previous releases. Leaving acoustic settings behind, the Dallas-based talent jumps head-first into a fuller arrangement, showcasing a different yet still very charming side of the project. We love the way the track develops quietly, rising from a fast-paced polite pop-rock gem to a full-fledged fierce anthem. The chorus brings Aday’s layered vocals, busy building a thousand harmonies. Notably, the record has been produced by multi-platinum and Grammy-award-winning peep Mikal Blue.
Lyrically, the song configures itself as a playful tribute to Carson’s trustworthy guitar, a 1962 petal pink Fender Stratocaster guitar, nicknamed Molly.
