Mari Dangerfield Gears Up for Upcoming EP with ‘Eco-Anxiety’

We last heard of Mari Dangerfield in 2021, when her album ‘Love and Other Machines’ confirmed what everyone was already thinking: this is a project with majestic potential, especially given its eclecticism. Blending art-pop influences with electronica and dreamy, ethereal textures, Dangerfield has consistently delivered a style that’s unique and authentic. From her kaleidoscopic and uplifting productions to her introspective and universal lyricism, Mari seems determined to make something glorious out of her nuanced and refined artistry.

Now, the London resident returns with her first single of the year, ‘Eco-Anxiety’. In it, the listener will be met by a decisively more electronic outlook, perfectly complementing Dangerfield’s light and airy vocals, often layered in mesmerising chants and mellow harmonies. A tale of existential angst, the track explores young adults’ doubts and insecurities, against a backdrop of environmental crisis and climate challenges. Channelling all the anxiety experienced by her generation, Mari seeks to lend a helping hand to the listener, who will likely relate to the vivid lyrical matter.

‘Eco-Anxiety’ also marks the first step towards Dangerfield’s next full-length record, a concept ep titled ‘Eco-Fever’. Describing the ideas behind it, she explains: “I hope that the EP might get some people thinking about the world and their place in it in a new way. My first record has been around for several years now, so I’m excited to share this new chapter and new side to myself.”
