Stay For Tomorrow Reboot Old Gem ‘Kings and Queens’

A permanent fixture in the Scottish alt-rock scene, Stay For Tomorrow have been releasing music for a few years, constantly refining their style and building on their audience. Unfortunately for us, we discovered the four-piece outfit only recently, following the release of their latest single ‘Kings and Queens – 2023 Version’. The Scottish talents seem to fit all the boxes of a classic alt-rock group: punch, energy, the willingness to go deeper – lyrically speaking – and a glorious vocal presence. Stay For Tomorrow have what it takes – and they are showing it.

‘Kings and Queens’ was first published in 2019, standing as their debut effort. Now, the track gets a powerful makeover, entering the new decade with evocative flair and newly-found charm. This new version will be included in an upcoming physical release, celebrating all the records shared by the group so far.

Introduced by powerful and kaleidoscopic guitar and keyboard riff, ‘Kings and Queens’ features a more kaleidoscopic approach to Stay For Tomorrow’s usual sonic stylings. The result is quite impressive, the perfect framework for the band’s groundbreaking vocals. Lyrically, we are in relationship territories: “Kings and Queens is the happy/sad anthem to scream your heart out to. It tells the all too familiar story of a past relationship and the attempts to rekindle it, how two people can change throughout the years and are no longer who they once knew.”
