[Photo Credit: Tammie Valer] – Everyone has a motivation for writing music. Perhaps is a way to blow off some steam. Or a means for personal expression. At times, it might be a more serious endeavour or even have a commercial motivation behind it. For Shane Scarazzini & EightFingers, the choice to put thoughts down on paper was mostly down to a deep need to find artistic freedom after a few years spent touring with other artists. And thus, ‘Free To Roam’ was born – an anthem for everyone that might feel stuck or directionless in life.
Of course, the sonic aspect of the record is also pretty precious and refined. An accomplished composer and performer, Scarazzini seem perfectly at home in Country and Folk settings, championing steel guitars, fiddle and poignant vocals in an effort to create a relevant aural experience. We can say with confidence he’s fully reached his goal: ‘Free To Roam’ is a stunning gem, enriched even more by Shane’s deep yet dynamic vocal tone.
Gearing up for a larger album release, expected later this year, the Nashville-based creative is treating his solo project with drive and dedication, exactly what we would like to see. Highlighting the introspective and reflective nature of the song, Shane Scarazzini explains: “the soundtrack of a young man’s spirit; one who just broke free from the suffocating grip of what the outdated world demands of him, and takes to the mountains to craft and give his music to the world.”
