Citrus Maxima are a four-piece indie-rock act that formed in Albany but is now based in Brooklyn, New York City. You perhaps already know them from their highly successful single ‘1970’ which came out in 2020. On their brand new tune ‘I Don’t Wanna Die’, the guys dive headfirst into a classic alternative-rock sound, with crunchy guitar work, thick and booming drums, and the irresistible vocals of lead singer Lucas Rinaldi. It’s really a rollercoaster ride that lasts for less than three minutes, but you come away from it with the same “what just hit me?” experience.
It’s been almost a year to the day since we last heard from Citrus Maxima – they had just put out their ‘Sprouts’ EP. Taking absolutely nothing away from the EP, it’s a beautiful thing to witness the foursome’s sonic transformation, growth, and maturity. I really believe they’re on to something quite sonically special, and I simply cannot get ‘I Don’t Wanna Die’ out of my head!
The track serves as the first single from the band’s upcoming album. So far, there is no release date, but I’m seriously excited to hear it. Citrus Maxima do things differently and on their own terms. With their DIY approach to all aspects of their music, you’ve got to respect their mission.
