Trust the Mask Explore Digital Solitude in Glitchy Gem ‘Otaku’

This hypnotising and bold electronic duo from Italy has already impressed us greatly, thanks to their previous release ‘Will You Come?’, a stunning and quirky synth-pop we so proudly featured not long ago. Now, Trust the Mask return with what feels like the continuation of a nuanced artistic journey: ‘Otaku’ expands the narrative, building on cinematic, anthemic and ethereal tones.

A decisively pop offering, the record is the perfect example of how Trust the Mask are able to blend adventurous sonic territories with more friendly and relatable storytelling, a move that we are confident will gain them a plethora of new followers and dedicated listener.

Channelling glitch-flavoured sound design and immersive textures, ‘Otaku’ perfectly mirrors the lyrical concept behind it, an exploration of the modern obsession with computers and technology. In fact, the song’s title is borrowed from Japanese, and it’s the term describing individuals who escape human interactions in favour of digital connections.
