Perdurabo is an Italian electronic solo project from composer and producer Davide Arneodo, an artist with a unique sensibility for instilling his work with emotionality and depth. His latest single ‘Dark Fire’ is a mastery of the genre, and you can tell with certainty the production chops and instrument proficiency that build the piece. In hearing the track, you won’t be surprised to learn the input from legendary producer Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode) and mastering engineer Matt Colton (Arctic Monkeys), alongside Arneodo’s own classical training and impressive industry history.
The second offering from his upcoming debut album, ‘Dark Fire’ is a swirling, moody track that pulls you into its mesmerising soundscape, with new sections emerging with satisfying payoff. Featuring a haunting topline from vocalist and composer ECHLO, the lyrics tell of the struggles of trying to help someone in the grip of addiction, with poignant phrases that demand connection. The combination of Echlo’s warm, dreamlike vocal tone with the sweeping instrumental brings about something of a perfect storm: a track that you’ll want to listen to over and over.
If you want to capture the feeling of walking through the city at night, head swirling with beautifully painful indecision, this is definitely the song I would suggest.
