The amount of talent we get to witness on a daily basis is absolutely staggering. It really is an exciting time for the music industry, an era where there’s no shortage of creatives and visionaries, constantly breaking boundaries and blending genres together. One of those musical heroes is Eaupale, evocative French songstress with a knack for solemn vocals and elegant, bilingual lyricism. Now based in London, where she developed her musicianship at The British Institute of Modern Music, Eaupale shares her debut single, the soothing yet intense gem ‘Sentiments’.
There’s a lot to praise in the record. First off, the French talent’s stunning vocal tone, showcasing dynamism, wide range and incredible expressivity. The choice of singing both in her mother tongue and English gives Eaupale a certain edge, a welcome uniqueness that will go a long way in helping her stand out from the crowd. Besides, for any English-speaking listener, the nuance and intriguing sound of French lyrics will help create a legendary aura around the project.
‘Sentiments’ shines also in its production, a poignant and cinematic arrangement courtesy of Tony Sage. Balanced over acoustic and electronic tones, the track ends with a glorious concoction of textures and vocal harmonies. Describing the writing process behind the song, Eaupale explains: “I was in an unhealthy relationship battling negative feelings coming from all over the place. I left the track for a while and started working on it again with Tony Sage who was a different producer from the one I initially started “Sentiments” with. We incorporated some guitar and vocal melody lines making the song smoother and more peaceful than it was previously. I had taken a step back from what I was feeling back then and this was the result“.
