There’s a strong aura of mystery around ZETA-HED, eclectic and hypnotizing music outfit emerging from New York, USA. We don’t know who’s the human behind the project, but what we can tell you is that we are talking about a pretty talented artist, a competent and creative peep with a knack for heavy distortion, punchy synth work and a wide vision over the project’s sound. Describing how ZETA-HED is his first solo project, he lets us understand that he’s in fact taken parts in bands, sometime in the past.
Shifting the focus to today, we are pleased to present you with ZETA-HED’s debut album, ‘with a Sound’. In it, the keen listener will find seven powerful tracks, exploring a whole range of influences including Tool, Incubus, and Porcupine Tree. For the purpose of this article, we’ll focus on the opening track, ‘Pro Player’. Introduced by glitchy textures and a gritty, saturated guitar, the track soon jumps into full-on gun mode, exhibiting an irresistible blend of alt-rock and intense grunge, not to mention some light math rock references. Production is great, as so are the vocals: a dynamic and precise tone that works perfectly with the gritty distortions around it.
A banger, don’t let it slide away.
