Ripsime Connects with Her Roots in ‘Benevolent Prince’

Often, art is not only a vehicle for personal expression. Rather, it’s a tool we can use to connect with our roots and deeper identity, allowing us to process generational traumas and conflicts of cultures. For Ripsime, music was a way to re-discover her Armenian heritage, a quest that took her on a journey through war-torn territories and geo-political disputes. Spending the best part of 2021 in Artsakh, the talented young artist focused on crafting material that’s solemn, introspective and transformative, really growing and evolving her artistry.

The results are for us to hear, and we feel blessed to be able to do so. ‘Benevolent Prince’ is the first single taken off ‘Capsule I’, Ripsime’s upcoming EP. In it, the listener will enter the London-based talent’s unique sonic universe, blending cutting-edge textures, hard-hitting beats, and her luscious, ethereal vocals, intense and expressive. Overall, there’s a touch of experimentation, a feature that’s very welcome from us at Mesmerized. The record shares a strong sense of fragmentation, a deep dynamicity that perhaps serves as a reminder of the tumultuous settings where the song was written.

A wonderful effort by Ripsime, showcasing how she’s reached a whole new level of artistic consciousness. We are here for it.
