Pierce Braedon started as many of us did. A teenager drawn to the rebellious and transformative force of Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. It wasn’t hard to play their songs on a guitar: a feature that made them particularly friendly to the newcomer musician, eager to enter Cobain’s fierce and powerful universe, and perhaps aiming to achieve the same level of coolness. While some might have stopped after realising playing a musical instrument is not that easy, Braedon kept going, confident to have found his artistic mission.
Luckily for us, we might add: ‘Her.’ marks the arrival point of a long journey, now able to express its own authenticity and storytelling with carefully crafted gems and luscious vocal poignancy. ‘Her.’ is all that and more: built over introspective guitar tones and boasting a minimal, reflective character, the track moves slowly and with gravitas, providing the perfect emotional framework for Braedon’s relatable storytelling, sharing tales of love, pain and grief. Exploring the longing for someone to share important moments with, Pierce gives birth to an outstanding song, a classic in the making.
A fantastic effort from Pierce Braedon, showcasing his evolution into a nuanced and brave songster, not afraid to delve into human consciousness and connect with the listeners on a deeper level.
