Chughey’s Latest EP S.M.I.L.E. is Honest and Captivating

Jeremy Bregman

Chughey is a Michigan-based hip-hop artist and engineer who has just unleashed his incredibly honest and vulnerable new EP entitled ‘S.M.I.L.E.’. Featuring four tunes that showcase Chughey’s inventiveness, versatility, and phenomenal production skills, ‘S.M.I.L.E.’ is, lyrically, a deeply personal and intimate album. “It’s a compilation of a bunch of sad and depressing songs I made while going through some really low points in my life,” admits the musician. Dealing with themes like depression, addiction, and overall mental health, Chughey found light at the end of the tunnel and hopes that this EP can do the same for others.

‘IN THE RAIN’ is the EP’s opener, and it’s a laidback and downbeat track that sets the tone for what’s to come perfectly. ‘HIDE’ soon follows and, for me, is the most eclectic and genre-bending song on the EP. Cutting across genres and styles, it’s a tune not to be missed!

‘DEAD ON THE FLOOR’ and ‘SMILE’ complete Chughey’s EP and both deserve as much attention as the previous two tracks. Innovative, imaginative, and simply enthralling, ‘S.M.I.L.E.’ is an album not to be missed! Trust us!
