The KYN Unveils Latest Soulful Gem ‘Own Way’

The gospel-passioned reader will greatly rejoice in discovering The KYN. Boasting a sound that’s eclectic yet planted in tradition, the Denver-based collective has been showcasing a knack for a luscious and feel-good sound, balanced over neo-soul rhythms, RnB lyricism and Gospel vocal formulas. The results are absolutely fantastic, a sign that we are in the presence of truly gifted musicians and motivated writers.

Debuting earlier this year with the slow gem ‘Fallin’, The KYN now returns with their second offering, a more upbeat and revealing jewel that directly draws from the contemporary RnB landscape – think Daniel Ceasar and H.E.R. – while delivering mellow, Wonder-flavoured melodies and lyricism. ‘Own Way’ features a rhythm section that wants to scream D’Angelo, stopping just short of that, remaining in polite and polished territories. Bass and drums work perfectly together (shoutout to drummer Matt Campbell), providing the perfect framework for the evocative vocals of singer Brionne Aigné to flourish in all their anthemic glory.

Headed by producer and composer Callum Bair, The KYN seems to have a very clear idea of what it stands for. Credit to Bair for the stunning record, so well put together. We are eager to see what’s coming next. Stay tuned!
