Hassall Asks if Romance is Dying on ‘Out Of Date’

Australian-based act Hassall has come up with their own genre to describe their sound, and they call it Sharehouse pop. We can dig that! The band’s brand new single is a tune called ‘Out Of Date’, and it serves as the first of three tracks that they’ll be releasing throughout the year. Asking the question “Is romance dying or are we killing it?’, ‘Out Of Date is a powerful anti-Tinder anthem served up in classic, edgy, indie-rock fashion. Vocalist and self-confessed rambler Matilda Hassall shows off her sweeping vocal chops and, personally, is the highlight of the song for me. There’s just something that shines through in her voice that utterly fascinates and captivates.

“The song is a protest against the increasingly digitised modern dating scene,” says the band. Yet more wisdom from Hassall that I can fully get behind! Matilda proves herself a wonderful storyteller, as she examines how we romantically connect with one another these days. “‘Out Of Date’ is one of my proudest lyrical pieces,” she exclaims.

With their less-is-more approach to ‘Out Of Date’, Hassall has created a timeless tune that I honestly cannot get enough of!
