The keen reader will fondly remember sonic innovator Aurelia, having previously appeared on our blog. Writing about ‘Wax’, we proudly declared: “causing a stir in the industry, they impressed tastemakers and media figures alike, by delivering a sulky, intense vocal performance over a contemporary bed of luscious electronica.” Now, the New York-based creative returns with her first release of the year, a captivating and haunting electro gem in collaboration with Icarus Moth – ‘OUT4BLOOD’.
We are told that the pair have been writing music together for a long time, although this is the first time Icarus Moth has an official featuring in it. We can only say that their artistic partnership seems to be working well: ‘OUT4BLOOD’ is another outstanding offering from Aurelia, and – like previous material – it explores punchy and fuzzy electronica, aiming to draw the listener into a hypnotising and sleazy musical journey, perfectly fitting the project’s eclectic aesthetic.
A worthy follow-up to Aurelia’s debut releases, ‘Wax’ and ‘Sinister Things,’ the single is a captivating chronicle of a trance-like and desperate nostalgia for simpler times. The track’s aggressive and emotionally-charged production oscillates between anger, elation, and deep sadness, making for a truly powerful listening experience. ‘OUT4BLOOD’ is also the last single release from Aurelia before their highly-anticipated debut EP, which is set to drop later this year.
