Atlanta Rock Imprint Blueburst Debuts with Powerful Effort ‘Vanish’

In an industry that’s always looking forward, a few understated heroes still have the courage to look behind, crafting material that’s nostalgic yet exciting, vintage yet still incredibly relevant. Take for instance Blueburst. Emerging from Atlanta, the post-rock outfit debuts this week with a wonderful offering, the single ‘Vanish’. Channelling a plethora of rock influences from the 90s, the group manages to sound like a powerful blend between R.E.M and Foo Fighters, balancing its act among brute, punchy force and mellow melodies.

Headed by Craig Douglas Miller and legendary guitarist Marty Willson-Piper, the project also signals the artistic rebirth of its authors. Miller, known for his work with The Reach, had been away from the music scene for over 20 years, struggling with clinical depression and writer’s block. It was during this difficult period that he reached out to his musical idol, Willson-Piper, seeking guidance and inspiration. What started as a mentor-student relationship soon evolved into a true musical partnership, with the talented guitarist helping Miller to find his creative spark once again.

‘Vanish’ is the direct result of that process, and the union of two musically enlightened minds. Millers’ precise and evocative vocals pair perfectly with Wilson-Piper’s sapient guitar player, alternating clean tones to gritty, raw episodes, even featuring a powerful guitar solo. Honestly, a fantastic record, that needs to be experienced at least once. Finally some energy and exuberance!
