Music, and art in general, are often powerful vehicles for political and societal change. American singer and songwriter Clay Joule is no stranger to that, championing a personal writing style that likes to reflect on current global issues, seeking resolution and hope. It wasn’t that long ago that we were writing about one of his previous tracks, ‘Realm’, inspired by the ‘White Paper Movement’. In it, we proudly declared: “an absolutely beautiful track from a clearly dedicated, talented, and truthful artist”.
Now, Clay Joule returns to the music scene with his latest offering, a fierce and solemn song in support of Ukraine, a chant of hope and resilience for a better future. ‘O’Dream – The Song of Prophecy’ is built over poignant folk and rock matter, perfectly conveying the meaningful message behind the lyrics. Joule’s vocals maintain their evocative and transformative energy, reaching the listeners right in their hearts. To mention, the fantastic guitar solo in the track is performed by Ukrainian guitarist Alex Gusinsky.
The question that remains is whether Ukraine will ultimately prevail against its neighbour’s tyranny or fall out. It is a difficult question to answer, and one that continues to plague the minds of many. However, one thing is certain – Joule’s prophecy in ‘O’Dream – The Song of Prophecy’ will ultimately play out in some shape or form. Its poignant message serves as a reminder of the power of art to provide solace and hope in times of great turmoil and uncertainty.
