Strength Comes From Within in Jay Roecker’s ‘A New Day For You’

Jeremy Bregman

At the end of January, the Texas-based electro-pop artist Jay Roecker unleashed his single ‘Pour On Me’. I fell in love with the tune straight away and in one month its plays on Spotify have more than doubled to over 36,000. Jay has now returned with ‘A New Day For You’ and, sonically, it’s a track that sees him developing and building on his previous sound. Intense and atmospheric synths, thumping drums, and the superb vocals of Roecker are all on full display and, if you weren’t paying attention before, the musician makes sure that you are now! Fierce, impassioned, and simply dazzling!

Jay is inspired by today’s modern new-wave synth revolution. Think Joji, The Weeknd, and Troye Sivan. He also draws on influence, however, from the classic 80s new-wave scene. Depeche Mode, New Order, and The Pet Shop Boys. It’s this wonderfully wide-ranging set of influences that makes Roecker the unique and distinctive artist that he is.

I believe ‘A New Day For You’ will join ‘Pour On Me’ on Jay’s upcoming second album ‘Electronic Symphonic’. Scheduled for release sometime this year, it’s an album that I’m getting more and more excited to hear!
