Rob Lea Releases Stunning and Eclectic Album ‘Stop What You’re Doing’

Many won’t need to be told who Rob Lea is. But if you do, just know this: he’s one of the most talented and fast-rising male voices in Britain, at the moment. It’s not just us saying it – of course. The industry as a whole has been taking diligent notes, perhaps motivated by Lea’s appearance in ITV’s Starstruck show. Championed by the likes of Earmilk, The Daily Star and others, it is clear that Rob is on a glorious upward trajectory, one that ends with his wonderful music being on the global stage.

For now though, we should and will focus on his latest release, Lea’s debut EP ‘Stop What You’re Doing’. In it, the listener will be able to appreciate the magnitude of the Blackpool native, especially when it comes to his stunning vocal qualities. ‘Freak’ opens the EP with a groovy, exciting and hypnotising offering, especially in the verses, so catchy and fun. In our opinion, the best track on the record.

‘Summer in the Morning’ continues on mellower territories, exploring laidback and soulful tones applied to poignant songwriting. ‘Time of My Life’, on the other hand, seems to embody an indie anthem, blending guitar sleaziness with pop lyricism. After ‘High’ – the hardest and rockiest tune – ‘Reflection’ brings the record to a close, taking the vibe down with an enchanting and poignant ballad.

A record worth your time, and an incredible vocalist.
