Arches Release Edgy and Rebellious Record ‘Arches Mixtape’

It is always a good sign when a project draws attention to itself from the get-go. Take for instance Arches, Australian alt-pop duo from Meanjin (Brisbane). Debuting in 2021, the pair attracted significant industry attention, placing the cornerstone for a glorious career. Featured by the likes of Triple J Unearthed, Arches amassed a substantial number of streams, thanks to their charming indie and pop formula, ultimately resulting in relatable and catchy records. Following up on a rather productive year, we have high expectations for the group’s latest effort, ‘Arches Mixtape’.

In it, the listener will get a taste of what’s to expect in the band’s future. Everything sounds stronger: from the nuanced and refined production, to modern and edgy songwriting. Marking an evolution in their sound, the duo explores eclectic electro-pop with a touch of retro nostalgia and early-2000 exuberance. Of course, all 5 tracks are drenched in a modern and contemporary allure. From the trap-inspired, lo-fi fuzzy goodness of ‘Lonely’, to the chilled indie-electropop of ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’, everything points to Arches’ maturity and incredible artistic growth.

Honestly, ‘Arches Mixtape’ is a really good record. Sounding fresh, rebellious, charming and light – the listening experience will make you feel young again, finally in tune with the cultural landscape around you. And that’s a testament to Arches’ artistic relevance.
