We have had the pleasure of writing about Taipei-based classical talent Jade Asthanginy in a previous feature, declaring: “‘Heart Touching Moments’ is perhaps one of the most beautiful cello and piano duets we have recently heard”. Now, the gifted composer and performer shares a new arrangement of a previous piece, ‘Dance Like a Kitty’.
Built exclusively over Cello and Piano, the track explores a wider range of playing techniques, especially regarding its string component. Next to conventional long, bowed notes, we find pizzicato actions, giving the composition a certain harp-like quality. There’s a strong playful character to it, revealing Ashtanginy’s prowess for writing relatable, digestible and just wonderful music.
