Diving into TruckerBomb, one cannot remain neutral to the strong nostalgia that permeates the band’s artistic outlook. It is neither country nor rock, but a charming version of Americana, instead. There’s also a strong retro flavouring in it, perhaps tied to Troy Richardson’s childhood – the human behind TrucklerBomb. The story goes that he used to spend summers in South Dakota, experiencing classic truckstop diners and 70s country music.
Now living in Los Angeles, Richardson seeks to amplify that poignant feeling that echoes another era. He does so through TruckerBomb, building a project that feels modern, while anchored in tradition. ‘Everything’ is his latest effort, a wonderfully elegant slow-paced piece. In it, the listener will find rocky tones, the occasional slide guitar and epic lyricism, all drenched in the unique band setting built around Richardson: in particular, Peruvian talent Ursula Lari, lending her evocative vocals and guitar skills to the cause.
Describing the inspiration behind the track, TruckerBomb explains: “it deals with existential dread, what we want and need, and what ultimately makes us happy.” Recorded at TStairway Studios by the legendary Fernando Perdomo.
