There’s something unique in ‘Universe Moves so Fast’. Perhaps it is the authentic and decisively experimental sonic settings, or the mysterious and ethereal vocals. What’s certain, is that Occurrence’s latest single won’t be forgotten easily. Introduced by a quirky and retro drum machine pattern, the track soon starts shaping its multilayered character. An organic shaker joins the party, with a bright snare making itself heard from far, far away. Suddenly, Hager’s vocals scramble any references we had, boasting the otherwordly and leftfield qualities the song has to offer. Dense and coarse synths complete what’s an already compelling offering.
While we may not hear Hollyer’s vocals in this instance, the record still contains a high degree of what has been making the American trio a welcome feature on our page. They strive for material that’s introspective, complex, yet relatable and seemingly accessible. Urban’s productions are always surprising, to say the least. It’s a fragile alchemy, but one that’s working.
Gearing up for their long-awaited album release on April 7th – not that far from now – the American group have so far showcased quite a bit about what we can expect from Slow Violence (the upcoming record). We are hyped, and so is the global music community.
