This is a story of resilience, a story of rebirth and personal empowerment. American talent Larissa Rook doesn’t take her music lightly. Rather, she celebrates it, making sure it is meaningful and perhaps offering a learning experience to whoever might need it. She would know: as a breast cancer survivor, Rook had to adapt and overcome, finding reasons to keep going even in the darkest of times. ‘exit’ is her latest effort, a wonderful, ethereal and dreamy tune exploring her experimental side. The song is about being a cancer survivor and what happens when treatment ends. It is also about figuring out when to let go of people, places, or things that no longer serve you.
Larissa has toured the US and UK with her former band Wormwood Scrubs, and as a solo artist, she is focusing on recording and playing select shows in Wimberley, Texas. Her previous song ‘Lucky’ was recently featured in Wildfire Magazine, a sign that the industry is slowly but surely taking an interest in her artistic output.
‘exit’ was recorded entirely on her iPad, and it was a fun thing to do while she healed. The record is a song she still performs live, and it’s a testament to her resilience and determination to keep creating even when faced with challenges. If you’re a fan of music that’s raw, honest, and full of emotion, you’ll definitely want to check out Larissa Rook.
