‘The Speech’ is the second single from Detroit Underdog Kings‘ (D.U.K) latest album ‘Kingdom Come’, which was released towards the end of last year. Based in Detroit (obviously), the group comprises legendary rapper Dogmatic, AKA K-stone, Kevin Bailey, Dgnamic, and Trap Lord Q.
The single in question is a hard-hitting and uncompromising rap tune that allows each group member to showcase their talent and unique technique. Relentless flows, blunt beats, and incredible lyrical prowess are the order of the day on ‘The Speech’. And their ethos behind the track? “Being an underdog and getting what’s ours in our hometown,” says the band.
The tune, to me, is the perfect representation of D.U.K’s mission to seize their place as the kings of Detroit’s hip-hop scene. The track is really more of a statement of intent from the group, as they declare their dominance and determination to succeed in their hometown.
D.U.K are set on making their mark and being remembered as one of the great hip-hop groups of its time, and who are we to bet against them? Onwards and upwards I say!
