We would be lying if we had acted all cool about this record. The truth is, once we heard what frau had managed to conceptualize, in musical and lyrical terms, our appreciation for her project increased massively, together with the satisfaction of having discovered another uber-talented artist. While its release date goes back to April ‘22, ‘mother’, by American rising pop star frau, it’s still very relevant, especially thanks to a wonderful music video hitting your screens next month, February 24th.
Musically, we are in heaven: ‘mother’ is a dreamy, celestial slice of modern pop. Featuring bubbles of precious synthesisers and mellow yet evocative drums, the track also builds upon frau’s lush vocal harmonies, together with a lead vocal tone that – from what we heard – is absolutely world-class.
Lyrically, ‘mother’ hits a very relevant theme, describing the disillusionment in observing the effect of human activities on the nature around us. In particular, frau focuses on New York City (where she currently resides), reflecting on how the whole town used to be a luscious natural oasis.
