Overlap Debuts with Poignant Rock Gem ‘Flight 608’

Emerging from Quebec City, Canada, alt-rock outfit Overlap could be described as very self-aware about their own music. Greeting our music discovery efforts, they explain: We know 90s rock is not the most popular music genre right now, but we’re convinced there’s still an audience for that kind of music”. Isn’t that the bane of all modern rock bands? It is partly true, the genre landscape has shifted heavily in favour of electronica and hip-hop. Fear not though, guitar-based music lovers are still scattered worldwide, waiting for the next great band.

From what we hear, they’ll be happy to discover Overlap, as much as we were. Debuting with the single ‘Flight 608’, the group showcases not only their instrumental prowess but also their ability to craft a good, engaging song. We won’t receive only guitar shenanigans from the Canadian band. They also champion deep and nuanced storytelling. The arrangements work very well too, never overpowering the vocals, and always supportive.

Comprised of Hugo Goyet (Vocals), Nicolas Paradis (Guitar), Samuel Cloutier (Guitar), Ben Jacob (Bass) and Simon Langevin (Drums), Overlap seems to be on the right track for national recognition. Looking forward to hearing more!
