London-based indie-rockers Modern Guilt recently returned with an epic new single called ‘How to Buy Happiness’, a mesmerising, almost psychedelic mix of Americana crossed with garage rock. It’s a tough tune to place in a box, and that’s often what gets me most excited when discovering new music. It’s fun and upbeat but, at the same time, measured, controlled, and mature. ‘How to Buy Happiness’ was produced by Mikey Buckley and has been described by the band as being, “like a Western. A fruitless saga of despair and longing”.
The track tells the tale of a man who is convinced that, if he had enough money, he would ultimately be happy, and how he chases that belief. It is also accompanied by a music video, shot by the acclaimed film director Ross Scott.
Modern Guilt released their debut single towards the end of 2020, an infectious and gritty little song called ‘Hoping for the Hoping’. It’s seriously impressive to see how far they’ve come, and how much they have grown, in such a short space of time. Onwards and upwards Modern Guilt, and we cannot wait to hear what next you have up your sleeves!
