The Starkillers’ Latest Release ‘Close To The End’ Is Stadium-Ready

Jeremy Bregman

‘Close To The End’ is the sublime new indie-rock tune from Utah-based foursome The Starkillers, and it also serves as the title track from the band’s upcoming album. An edgy and intense guitar riff gets the song underway, before hard-hitting drums, gritty bass, and the rich vocals of Jon Omen all come into play. It’s a wonderfully pieced-together and anthemic tune, and I can just hear it being belted out to a large and loving crowd sometime soon. It has that stadium-ready feel to it.

Lyrically, ‘Close To The End’ deals with a relationship that is nearing an inevitable ending. “You are still working to keep it from driving off the cliff,” says the band. “But you see the cliff edging closer and closer”. The subject of a toxic relationship is prevalent throughout the upcoming album, as The Starkillers take the listener on a journey of all the stages one finds themselves going through.

The band draw on influence from the likes of The Killers, Foster The People, Walk the Moon and Foo Fighters. They’ve done what’s vital though, and created a sound that is very much their own! We eagerly await the release of their full album.
