Louis Cross Unveils Full EP ‘A Page To Tell’

The keen reader will gladly remember British storyteller Louis Cross, from a feature we did earlier this summer for ‘I Don’t Know’. A the time, we proudly declared “Cross has been showcasing an enhanced prowess for poignant lyricism and indie-pop aesthetics, while focusing on a thematic framework that raises support for disabilities and the wider LBGTQ+ community”. He was also busy gearing up for a future EP release. Guess what, that EP is now with us, and it collects a few past singles plus three brand-new tracks.

‘A Page To Tell’ is Cross’ latest record. In it, we can appreciate the Manchester talent’s signature sound, based on acoustic and folk sensibilities, with the occasional incursion into poppy and indie territories. Acoustic guitars are the pillars upon which the EP stands. Often interlaced by strings and steel guitar, it is almost hard to believe that such an American-infused style emerges from Greater Manchester.

But it does: Louis Cross does the impossible and delivers a collection of beautiful, heartfelt songs. Timeless gems, each one carrying a story of reckoning, redemption, and challenges. In particular, Louis focuses on his personal history, through disabilities and coming of age.

Latest track ‘A Page To Tell’ gives its name to the whole record. In it, the listener will find a relatable, nostalgic jewel, with a cinematic chorus you’ll probably cry to.

Overall, a great record from a clearly talented artist. Recommended!
