Mikano Explores the Complexity of Human Relationships in ‘Tell a Lie’

It wasn’t long ago that we were discussing British rapper Mikano’s latest album, Akwa II. Charmed by his kaleidoscopic style, we proudly declared: “Navigating his own daily experiences and lifetime achievements, he’s not afraid to release gut-punching, poignant material, aimed at perhaps inspiring and enlightening his listeners”. That statement is even more true in light of the project’s newest music video, a visual adaptation of ‘Tell a Lie’, directed by Ferina and produced by Incendie

Track number 5 in the album, ‘Tell a Lie’ takes the role of lead single, and rightly so. Drenched in friendly, modern hip-hop, the song focuses on the complex relationship we all have with lying. When the time comes, we are capable of telling a little lie, it’s in our human nature. Mikano seeks to explain how – eventually – it is preferred to forgive ad rebuild. The music video plays along those exact lines, depicting the numerous ways we fight, accept, and ultimately forgive.
