There’s a particular sense of fragility in BREGN’s latest musical output. Wrapping his gritty, evocative vocals around kaleidoscopic folk, the Danish talent takes us on a peculiar journey through a sonic universe made up of acoustic guitars, soothing keys and ethereal leftfield goodness. The result is a short yet intense trip into the artist’s introspective lyricism, exploring societal conditions and personal experiences. In this case, ‘You and Me’ seeks to shed a light on the collective sense of loss the pandemic left in all of us.
We must say, BREGN’s refined and exceptional songwriting is shining high in this one, perhaps one of his best records to date. We have been following the Danish talent for a while, featuring ‘Dreaming’ earlier this year, a more classic take on the project’s primary genre, folk. ‘You and Me’ signals the ability to change and innovate, with the track building a very personal yet relatable style.
If the release is anything to go by, we are expecting brighter things in BREGN’s future. How could not be that way? Transcending folk into electronica, the Aarhus resident manages to create timeless matter, looking at the future while staying anchored in the present.
