Although he’s building a personal project from the ground up and learning in the process, British creative Silas Armstrong is no stranger to the industry. In fact, he’s been championing it for years, working at the highest level and meeting legendary musicians. A gifted singer, writer and dancer, but also a former radio producer at the Ronnie Scott Jazz Club, Armstrong debuted his personal material in 2020, showcasing a knack for heartfelt, reflective songwriting and modern productions.
Fast forward to today, and the talented London resident is in the midst of an album cycle, getting close to it with latest release ‘I’m Not Ok’, a refined, classic pop piece which extensively showcases its author’s evocative and malleable vocal tone. An empowering anthem, the track seeks to diminish the stigma around depression and mental health.
‘I’m Not Ok’ is quite a refreshing take on modern pop. Leaving artificial productions behind, the record navigates a musical-ready, theatre-like vibe, highlighting the beautiful melodies being sung so beautifully by Armstrong. Echoing Betlesian eclecticism, the track manages to explode in a glorious chorus, featuring a pizzicato string riff that sound way more modern than it should. Wrapping the listener into haunting yet friendly musical matter, ‘I’m Not Ok’ will be an emotional experience for many of us.
