Anton Commissaris Continues His Glorious Artistic Blessing with ‘Straight on Down the Line’

It is surprising to observe Anton Commissaris‘ musical eclecticism: from Jazz to Latin, passing through Soul and Rock’n’Roll, there’s no telling where he might end up. Of course, he’s mostly known for his crooner, vintage vocal tone, blessing classic Jazz pieces such as his EP ‘Awakening Sounds’. Released earlier this year, the record showcased the San Francesco resident as the recipient of masterful musicianship, both in terms of lyricism and instrumental prowess.

Following up from that experience, Commissaris seeks to shuffle the cards a little bit, with the release of ‘Straight on Down the Line’, a bluesy, rocky bop made with a feel-good yet reflective attitude. It’s easy to get lost in the track’s rolling rhythms, carrying the listener through the artist’s passionate lyrical universe and only releasing it at the end. What’s to note though, is Anton’s evocative, precise and relatable vocals, never afraid of adventurous melody lines.

Describing the process behind writing the track, Commissaris makes it clear it was drenched in reality. While driving in New Zealand, his wife asked him to drive more steadily, to which he replied that he would keep ‘straight on down the line’. That phrase instantly sparked inspiration, and a song was born.
