If you are entering Gallowayyys’ world, you must be ready to pay your dues. That is quantified in getting lost in his kaleidoscopic artistic universe, creating a very personal, unique creative world, which he calls a ‘community’ – and rightly so. His journey is not only a musical one, but also a research towards an authentic identity, a place where listeners can be free and confident in being their own selves. Delivering an eclectic blend of electronica, punk and hip-hop, the LA talent manages to open new sonic horizons, championing material that’s gritty, rough, at times lo-fi, and yet poignant and relatable.
Following up on the mellower episode ‘OLLIE OFF A MXLLY’, Gallowayyys returned earlier this month with a brand new record, ‘PARTY WITH YOU’. In it, all that we know about the project gets tweaked to the extreme. Introduced by an extremely distorted synth line, the track jumps straight into fuzzy, simple beats, providing a fitting framework for Gallowayyys cryptic and anamorphic vocals. The listening experience is very peculiar: the record kidnaps your senses for a solid three minutes, spitting you out at the end after a dazzling adventure into the project’s darkest lands.
Overall, a surprising offering by the American artist, who showcases himself as an inspired creative. Looking forward to hearing more, and seeing him on bigger platforms.
