Discover Britain’s Hottest Rock Band, Holy Coves

If there’s one thing Britain is good at, it is birthing talented rock bands. Drawing a line that starts with The Beatles and arrives at The 1975 (no judgement), this blessed isle of ours has always been fertile territory for guitar-based shenanigans. From a music blog perspective, it’s easy to spot groups that are meant to make it, groups that have that special ‘something’ that will carry them to the top. One of those outfits is certainly Holy Coves

Emerging from Wales, the trio have gone far since their debut, almost a decade ago. Their eye-popping, fuzzy sonic imprint has evolved continuously, gradually leaving space for a more nuanced and mellower style. Nonetheless, their guitars are always as sharp as they used to be. Championed by the likes of Gary Crowley on BBC Radio London and Playlisted on Amazing Radio’s A List, the Welsh rockers have been on the rise ever since, confirming once again their absolute class in their latest album ‘Druids And Bards’.

What can you expect from it? At its core, this is charming alt-rock crossed with pop sensibilities and post-punk elements. In other words, it’s stunning. While the arrangements deliver a mesmerising wall of sound, with mangled guitars at the front, Holy Coves pursue simpler, more poignant lyricism, with melodies that listeners can relate to. While lead single ‘Away We Go’ carries the main flag of this wonderful album, we urge you to put the whole record on and give it a listen, perhaps on a long drive. You’ll emerge with newly-found clarity and self-confidence. After all, that’s what good music does to all of us.
