Little Wasters Share Euphoric Album ‘WASTELIFE’

The keen reader might recall a feature we did for Little Wasters not long ago. Writing about ‘I Want You (For Someone)’, we proudly declared it “raw, bold, and filled with heartfelt passion”, a statement that largely also serves to summarize the London-based group’s fierce artistry, steeped in roaring guitar tones, general fuzziness and a certain Britpop charisma. Today, the Camden-loving quartet returns with their biggest release to date, ‘WASTELIFE’, a monumental album collecting old singles and brand-new offerings.

Opening the record with ‘Heat’, Little Wasters put their best foot forward, wrapping listeners in crunching rock’n’roll drums and a rather groovy, striking outlook. The result is an eclectic blend of early ‘2000 sleaziness with hints of classic rock and indie euphoria. Elsewhere, ‘Beachside Hotel’ reveals a profoundly playful, gritty character, embracing the band’s heightened British flair.

‘Blue Moods’ takes a different approach, with ballad-esque blues rock and retro-flavourings. It’s perhaps here that we can fully appreciate Little Wasters’ eclectic, wisdom-filled attitude, something that might also stem from their decades-long experience with music making. ‘Eat/Sleep/Work/Breathe’ is an anthemic, electronic piece, showcasing how the group is also able to significantly widen their aural references.
