Transcending Into the Unknown Share Anthemic EP ‘The Journey’

Every time we cover Transcending Into the Unknown, we are reminded of how music can – and perhaps should – be an intergenerational endeavour. The Norwegian group knows this well. Made up of founding members Filip and Robert (brothers) and Stian (Filip’s son), the eclectic rock outfit offers a highly impressive sonic imprint. Their aural formula includes gritty distortions, screamy vocals, 80s-flavoured keyboard atmospheres, and ballad-esque solos.

Such an infusion of influences is only natural considering the band’s various decades of influence. For instance, the guitar solo in ‘Chronos’ (a single we already featured) is incredibly evocative, pompous, and very glam-like. If that sounds enticing, you’ll be happy to discover ‘The Journey’, Transcending Into the Unknown’s latest EP. Collecting past singles and new offerings, the record showcases the group’s adaptive character, shifting from the accessible, polite notes of ‘The Valley’ to the triplet, blues-like shores of Noir.

There’s something for everyone in it, yet it seems to us that ‘The Journey’ is a rather breaking record in the Norwegian project’s history. Leaving behind their metal origins, Transcending Into the Unknown embraces a melodic, more evocative outlook, further heightened by Eva Halsetrønning Rambrau’s luscious female vocals, the most recent addition to the lineup. Overall, this is an EP that will likely entice a large audience. Looking forward to discovering the band’s next moves.
